Social Media Character Limits
Social posts, captions, bios, ads, and video descriptions all have different length limits. A character counter helps you edit before a platform cuts your text or hides important information behind a “more” link.
Use the Character Counter for fast drafting. It shows total characters, characters without spaces, words, and common platform-style limits in one place.
What to check
- Keep the strongest message near the beginning of the post.
- Count characters after adding links, hashtags, and punctuation.
- Use short line breaks carefully because they improve scanning but add length.
- Check both the full caption and the preview text users see first.
Better social copy workflow
Draft the full message first, then make a shorter version. Paste both into the counter and compare clarity. If the shorter version loses the main point, rewrite the hook instead of only deleting words from the end.
For campaign copy, use the Word Frequency Counter to make sure every post is not repeating the same generic phrase.
