Meta Title Length
A meta title, also called a title tag, is one of the first things people see in search results. Length is not the only ranking factor, but a concise title is easier to scan and less likely to be truncated.
Use the Character Counter to check title length while drafting. A practical writing range is often around 50 to 60 characters, but search engines display titles by pixel width, device, and query, so clarity matters more than chasing an exact number.
Good title checklist
- Put the main topic near the beginning.
- Write for a real searcher, not only for a keyword tool.
- Keep the title specific to the page content.
- Avoid repeating the same word or brand phrase unnecessarily.
- Check title length and capitalization before publishing.
Example workflow
Draft three title options, paste each into the counter, and compare both character count and readability. If the title is too long, remove weak modifiers before removing the main search intent.
After the title, write the snippet with the Meta Description Character Count guide.
