Character counting
Count Characters Without Spaces
Some forms and writing rules count every character, while others ignore spaces. Checking both numbers helps you avoid surprises when submitting ads, bios, titles, short answers, or assignment text.
The Character Counter shows total characters and characters without spaces side by side. It also shows words, sentences, and common character-limit checks.
What usually counts as a character?
- Letters, numbers, and punctuation usually count.
- Spaces may or may not count depending on the platform or rule.
- Line breaks, emojis, and special symbols can be counted differently by different systems.
- Copied text may contain hidden spacing, so clean it before final counting.
Safer workflow
Paste the text, check both character values, then use the Text Cleaner if the text came from a PDF, spreadsheet, or rich editor. If the target platform has its own preview, use that as the final authority.
