LinkedIn About Character Limit
LinkedIn profile fields are short enough that every line matters. A common current working limit is 220 characters for the headline and 2,600 characters for the About section, but always check the final text inside LinkedIn before saving.
Paste your headline or profile summary into the Character Counter. It counts characters with spaces, characters without spaces, words, lines, and common LinkedIn limits.
How to use the About section
- Use the first two or three lines as a clear profile hook.
- Say who you help, what you do, and what proof you can show.
- Keep long service lists readable with short paragraphs or simple bullets.
- Count after adding links, phone numbers, certifications, and calls to action.
Headline vs About section
The headline should be compact and searchable. The About section can explain your background, niche, services, results, and next step. If the About section feels too long, use the Word Frequency Counter to remove repeated phrases before trimming useful detail.
