Google Business Profile Description Character Limit
Google Business Profile descriptions can use up to 750 characters. Count the description before publishing so it explains what the business does, who it serves, and why customers should choose it.
Use the Character Counter to check the 750 character limit. It also shows words, lines, reading time, and other publishing limits while you draft.
What to include
- Main service or product category in plain language.
- Location, service area, or customer type when it helps local searchers.
- Experience, specialties, materials, methods, or other trust-building details.
- A natural call to action without turning the description into a coupon or ad.
What to avoid
Google's business description guidance says not to include URLs, HTML code, sale prices, or promotional claims that are not allowed in the description field. Keep the copy helpful and factual instead of stuffing repeated keywords.
Quick workflow
Write one version around the business category, one around the customer problem, and one around proof or experience. Count each version, then use the Word Frequency Counter to remove unnatural repetition before publishing.
